S S Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Centre (SSIMSRC) is located in a sprawling area of 130 acres of land in Davangere district of Karnataka. The institute was established to cater to the needs of the rural people residing in the district. Affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health and Sciences, SS institute of Medical Sciences & Research Center is among the premier institutes of medical sciences in the state. SSIMSRC Davangere focuses on imparting knowledge regarding latest techniques being used in the field. Quality education is being imparted by the college, at undergraduate level. The lack of any specialty hospitals in rural Davangere often had people going to Bangalore and Belgaum seeking special treatment. Also the NH4 passing by Davangere was the site of many traffic accidents, necessitating immediate medical care. SSIMS & RC was set up with the vision of being a Stage 4 referral hospital, and a Central Regional Hospital that takes care of the medical needs of the geographical area.
