The short version. Do not skip step 10. The notice is explicit: every candidate must exercise the upgradation option, Yes or No, at the time of admission at the college. Your admission slip is only generated after you do this — not before. You can still change your answer through your own candidate login until 27 August, 11:55 PM, but arriving at the college counter without having thought about Yes or No stalls your own paperwork, not the college's.
Look closely at step 6. Registration in step 1 is open to any eligible, qualified NEET UG 2026 candidate. But choice filling and locking — the step that actually decides which college you get — is explicitly restricted to “MP Domicile registered candidates.” That single line tells you what this schedule is really for.
It matches how Madhya Pradesh counselling works overall. The Directorate of Medical Education runs the state quota — roughly 85% of seats in government medical and dental colleges — strictly for MP domicile holders, and it also handles the state-quota, management-quota and NRI-quota seats in the state's private colleges through the same dme.mponline.gov.in portal. The remaining 15% of government college seats are the All India Quota, counselled separately by MCC, open to any candidate regardless of home state.
The honest read for a Northeast India family. If you do not hold Madhya Pradesh domicile, this Round 1 timeline is useful background, not your own action list. Register for MCC's 15% All India Quota in parallel — MCC Round 1 dates → — and if a specific MP private college's management or NRI quota interests you, confirm its exact eligibility with that college directly before assuming it is open to you.
A separate notice from the Office of the Commissioner, Public Health and Medical Education, Bhopal, dated 6 August 2026, spells out exactly what a GS (Government School) Quota candidate has to produce at Original Document Verification, once a seat is actually allotted. It is narrow, specific, and easy to get wrong if you only find out about it after your allotment letter arrives.
If you studied in a Madhya Pradesh Government school the whole way through — Class 6 to Class 12. At verification, you must submit certificates for every one of those classes, Class 6 through Class 12, issued by the authorised officer in the prescribed Proforma-10 format, together with your original mark sheets for each class. If a mark sheet for any one class genuinely isn't available, the notice allows a substitute: a certificate from the Principal of that Government school confirming you studied there in that class.
If you studied in a private school under the Right to Education Act, Class 1 to Class 8. You need two separate things, not one. First, a certificate from the private school's Principal proving your admission and study there was under the RTE Act. Second, for Class 9 through Class 12 — presumably back in a Government school — the same Proforma-10 certificates and original mark sheets required of any GS Quota candidate, issued by the authorised officer.
Neither path is something you assemble in a weekend once your allotment letter is in hand. Proforma-10 certificates come from an authorised officer, not your school directly, and a missing mark sheet substitute still needs the Principal's own certificate. If GS Quota is your route into this counselling, start gathering these now, not after Round 1 results.

This is the only channel the Commissioner's notice names — no other website or agent can register you.
When you report to your allotted college between 21 and 27 August 2026, you must actively choose Yes or No on upgradation to Round 2 — the notice states this is compulsory for every candidate. Your admission slip will not even generate until you exercise that option. You can still edit your choice through your candidate login until 27 August, 11:55 PM, but skipping the step entirely stalls your own admission paperwork at the college counter.
The notice specifically labels the choice-filling and locking step as being for “MP Domicile registered candidates,” which matches how Madhya Pradesh counselling works generally: the state runs 85% of government-college seats as a state quota restricted to MP domicile holders, plus the state-quota, management-quota and NRI-quota seats in private colleges through the same DME process. The remaining 15% of government-college seats are the All India Quota, filled separately by MCC with no domicile requirement at all.
Not through the state-quota round this schedule describes — that is reserved for MP domicile holders. Two doors stay open regardless of home state: the 15% All India Quota through MCC, and, in some cases, private-college management or NRI quota seats, which you should confirm college by college rather than assume. If your NEET UG 2026 score is strong, register for MCC in parallel and treat this DME timeline as background information rather than your own action list, unless you hold MP domicile.
Per a notice from the Commissioner, Public Health and Medical Education, Bhopal, dated 6 August 2026: candidates who studied at a Madhya Pradesh Government school throughout Class 6 to Class 12 must submit Proforma-10 certificates for each of those classes, issued by an authorised officer, along with original mark sheets — a missing mark sheet can be substituted with a certificate from that school's Principal.
